(The previously required Moroni 7:45 has been changed to Moroni 7:45, 47–48.) The Book of Mormon scripture mastery list, which students will study this school year, includes seven new passages and one modified passage. Some of the formerly required passages have been replaced with new, others have been modified, and many have remained the same. There are 25 passages for each year of study, totaling 100 passages to be memorized over the four-year Seminary course. Scripture mastery passages are scriptures that youth are required to “master”- locate, understand, apply and memorize-while enrolled in Seminary. This school year, seminary students will notice one more change to their religious education. Then age requirements for missionary service were changed in October 2012, allowing many more young adults to serve as full-time missionaries. In early 2013, the new youth Sunday curriculum Come, Follow Me: Learning Resources for Youth was released. Leaders of the LDS Church have shown an undeniable interest in the youth of the Church lately. The scripture passages are meant to help prepare youth for future missionary and church service. The LDS church has modified the Seminary scripture mastery passages for this new school year.
